Sometimes you just need to talk to one person. Not a group. Not a meeting. Not a server with 400 members and a voice channel. Just you and one other person, a few minutes, done.
And somehow that's the thing most calling tools make hardest.
People search "call 1v1 free" for a bunch of different reasons.
Some want a quick private chat with someone they met in a game. Some are talking to a client. Some just want to call a friend without both of them installing something new.
The common thread is simple. Two people, one conversation, no extra stuff around it.
Try it yourself. You want a free private call with one person and you want it to work in under a minute.
WhatsApp works great, but you both need accounts tied to phone numbers. So the "private" call ends with both of you holding each other's number forever.
Discord is free and the quality is good, but you both need accounts. It's built around servers and communities, so for a single one-on-one call it feels like using a bus to go next door.
Zoom and Google Meet are free, but they're meeting tools. Host account, invite link, waiting room, video-first screen. For a five minute voice chat it's a lot.
Jitsi is the closest thing to simple, since you can open a room without an account. But the room stays alive after you hang up, and audio on mobile was inconsistent when I tried it.
Every one of these gets you a call. None of them gets you a private 1v1 call that's actually free of strings.
I think it's pretty simple.
You open something. You get a link. You send it to one person. They open it. You talk. You hang up. Nothing's left behind.
That's the whole idea behind GhostCall.
Go to ghostcall.space. Hit Start a Call. You get a short link, something like ghostcall.space/app#K7X2MN, or a 6 character code if you'd rather read it out loud.
Send the link on WhatsApp, Instagram, Discord, email, wherever you're already talking to this person.
They open it in their browser and hit Join. You're connected, usually in a few seconds.
When either of you hangs up, the room is destroyed and the link stops working. Nobody can rejoin it later.
Not a promise, an actual design thing.
The audio goes straight from your browser to theirs. It's called peer-to-peer, and it's the same WebRTC technology Google Meet and Discord use under the hood. GhostCall's servers help the two browsers find each other and then step out of the way. In most calls your voice never passes through them. If a direct connection isn't possible, the audio can be relayed, but it stays encrypted.
There's also no account, so there's no profile for the call to be attached to. GhostCall doesn't know who you are or who you called.
One honest caveat though. The other person can always record the call on their own device, and no tool can stop that. So privacy tools help, but you still shouldn't say things to someone you wouldn't trust with them.
Gamers. You played with someone and want to talk outside the lobby without handing over your personal WhatsApp.
Freelancers. First call with a new client, before you've decided to trust them with your number.
Buyers and sellers online. A quick call on OLX or Instagram to confirm details, without a stranger ending up with your number.
Friends who hate installing things. Your friend isn't on the same app as you and doesn't want to sign up. A link works.
Anyone who just wants a short call. No reason needed.
I'd rather say this upfront than have you find out mid-call.
It needs a decent internet connection. On a really weak connection, a normal phone call is more reliable.
It's voice only. No video, no screen sharing.
It's built for two people. If you need a group call, use Discord or Meet.
And it's still in early access, so occasionally something breaks. The contact page on the site goes to a real person, so tell me when it does.
If you already know the person and don't mind having their number, use WhatsApp. It's excellent and there's no reason to overthink it.
GhostCall is for the other situations. The ones where you want the conversation but don't want the permanent contact that usually comes with it.
